Peace Counts on Tour

Every day, the media shows us how to make war. But how do we make peace? The search for answers has led reporters sponsored by the Peace Counts Foundation into 30 conflict zones to take a closer look at the work of successful peacebuilders. Their achievements teach us how to overcome the barriers between people.

In the years to come, Peace Counts on Tour will bring these stories back to the conflict zones. A photo exhibit shows a best-of selection. The Institute for Peace Education Tübingen has developed accompanying workshops which offer teachers, journalists, politicians and mediators a deeper understanding of motivations and methods of these peacebuilders.

The Peace Counts on Tour project is funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt) and the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa).

Peace Counts on Tour looks for local partners in each country to implement workshops, the exhibition and the opening event and offers all its material in exchange. Unitl today Peace Counts on Tour has been to seven countries around the world: the first station on the tour was Colombo, Sri Lanka in February 2007 followed by Skopje, Macedonia (October 2007), Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (March 2008), the Philippines (May 2008), Kaliningrad, Russia (November 2008) and Delhi, India (March 2009). The most recent station was Bogota, Colombia (September 2009).

For 2011 further stations are planned in Jordan (Amman), Afghanistan (Kabul) and India (Kerala and Manipur State).
